Hi guys.

Came across this forum while relentlessly looking through Google for a solution to my problem.

I encrypted a winzip file in 2003 which I would really like access too but unfortunately forgot the password.

I've previously tried brute force pretty aimlessly and was hoping you could maybe provide some guidance?

Unfortunately JtR is pretty much useless at WinZIP because it finds a false positive in 64K guesses on average. That is 7-8 false positives per minute, per CPU core... This can be fixed but noone has bothered yet.

theres your answer, fix jtr code, write your own, or remember your password.
