Full Version: oclHashcat-plus 0.06 - md5(unix) keeps crashing on w7x64

My system always randomly freezes when running oclHashcat-plus against my md5(Unix) hashlist. White strips on monitor, numlock on keyboard doesnt respond.

My hw is 100% stable. Especially with oclHashcat-lite and another tasks.

I tried to check event viewer on Windows but didn't find any problem related to this issue.

Is there way how could I track down problems?

I had this with version 0.05 and 0.06. Should I rather try to run it on Linux?

Thank you

you can try to lower -n and/or --gpu-loops. that should fix it.
If it's a WDDM timeout(or no timeout) then it's just long kernel runtimes.
Fixed by lowering some settings, like -n and loops.

If not, well, HW is unstable.
Or the PSU is lousy.
Thanks for your advices. I tried to lower loops. It's very hard to say if it's fixed now. I need to wait.

Next newbie question:

What is strange to me is the fact that when running oclHashcat-plus, GPU fan is not as loud compared to oclHashcat-lite , or for example Bitcoin minning.

Does not it mean that GPU utilization is lower? If so shouldnt I except more stable behaviour compared to situations when fan is more louder?

I'm using ATI Radeon 5850
Yeah, the "effective load" of the GPU is lower.
It may or may not be connected with the GPU utilization.
any news on this?
