Sounds good! - i left 1 slot space inbetween and i'm using rather strong fans (see above). - that's easily enough (including oc) if your fan / airflow concept is allright, e.g.: https://anonimag.es/image/mur

What kind of case are you using?

Thanks
It's a industrial design PC (IPC) case. I think it's a GHI-4xx but there are several subtypes. - Got mine cheap on ebay. There are plenty including better/more interesting ones (e.g. 19/20 slot), just look for industrial computers. .... Just a random hit: https://www.ctsj.co.jp/products/page/ipc_...index.html

It's made in japan? Maybe you have exact model to look for.

Basically, I need a nice case to store at least 8xHDDs (3.5", ideally all hdds should be cooled) + room for 4 x graphic cards (FE GTX 1080) and SSI-EEB motherboard.

Maybe, you could recommend some?

Thank you.
Attention! The case i'm using is *NOT* made for ATX/SSI-EEB boards (there is a separate ATX version though, which only has ~7 slots instead of 15). This is an industrial pc chassis supposed to be used with PICMG setups, so by design there is *no space for a mainboard with CPU*. Instead there should be backplane (without CPU) with many PCIe slots and a PICMG 1.3 slot, where the CPUs sitting on a separate SBC that itself is "plugged in" just like the GPUs themselves ... The specs you have mentioned will *not* work with this kind of case !!

In fact i "abused" that case and put in a consumer intel i3 board with small footprint on top (!) of the GPUs, using low profile risers to connect the GPUs below. This setup is a lot cheaper than a PICMG backplane and a SBC CPU board. It's working nicely and was specifically built for slow hashes. It's got perfect airflow etc., *BUT* in fact building it was PITA and it took me several attempts to get everything right. Unless you are willing to spend a lot of time on all the details and cable fiddling, i wouldn't recommend it. I just needed a very short chassis because i can't put in deep rack cases, and this is only ~45cm deep.

epixoip recommended a Chenbro case, that *might* fit your requirements a lot better, but i'm not sure. it was a RM41300 i think.

Yeah, I saw his recommendation. Unfortunately, it doesn't suit my needs (not enough space for hdds). Also there are some TYAN barebones, but they are very expensive.

The first one (FE) has an unique and small fan, which is *very* noisy when hashcat runs with -w3 during few time :  this little fan rotates at bottom to try to refresh the card, looks like an airplane takes off.
The Gaming one a two large fans which don't need to rotates so much to refresh the card.
If you are performance driven and don't care about the noise => FE
If you sleep or work next to your server => Gaming Edition.

And if it helps, benchmarks of both :

Mem5,
Is there much of a temperature difference between the two cards?

Nice! How many fans are you using?
I'm using two fans and thats enough, including overclocking. Please have a look at my previous posts in this thread to see the exact fan types, i've mentioned them there. kiara also ref'd another thread worth reading which is specifically about fans.
