Hello

I am new to this forum and the hashcat software.
I wold love to make a low budget rig that i can upgrade when i have some more money.

What GPU shold i take?
I was thinking about the GeForce 1080 or GeForce 1080 ti (only 1 yet)

What motherboard shold i take?
Maybe something big? so i can later on buy a few more GPUs

What CPU shold i take?
Shold a i5 Exeon get the job done? and shold my motherboard have 1 or 2 cpu sockets?

The Powah!
How about this one? so far i am only planning on using 1 GPU, but it wold be handy to have a good one so it doesnt become useless when i get another GPU.

RAM?
How much ram shold i take? and how many slots shold i use / save for later?

Storage HDD/SSD?
I don't think i need a SSD for this, a hughe but slow HDD shold get the job done?

Wich OS shold i use?
It wold be nice to use the rig as a rendering farm / cracking rig or even Miner.
The goal is NOT to make it a miner, but its always fun to play around and test out new things.
Anyways, remotely connecting to the rig is also something nice i like.

Hopefully u can help me, i just can't wait to get started!
You're on the right track. Although: How much room you leave for future system upgrades is up to you. There are anyway more important questions: How often and/or how long should this rig run with Hashcat oder mining? The more you will use it, the better the quality of MB and PSU have to be.

But it's of course easy and unexpensive to build a system with one spare slot. Get a decent Mobo with good quality and forget all the fancy stuff (expensive chipset, sound chip etc.) since you won't need it anyway.

You got it right to get the best GPU you can buy since that's the essential part.

CPU is almost irrelevant, one socket fine and something like a i8100 more than enough. If you plan with 16GB RAM you'll be ok for most config featuring 1 or 2 GPUs.

Forget HDD. A 250GB SSD can house everything you need including two differnt O/S and a bunch a wordlists. I use three partitions, one for Windows, one for Linux and one for hashcat. Serves fine and is easy to handle.

The PSU should be gold standard or up. If you plan with two 1080Ti you should have 850-1000W. Two normal 1080 are served with 600-700W very well.
The rig is mostly used to "play around" with, Cracking Rig, Server, Rendering, etc...
My idea was not to make it a cracking rig/miner that goes 24/7 all day long, but more a kind of project that can be changed & upgraded easly.
The 1080ti wold be used on my desktop pc when my rig is out of use for a long time. it wold be such a waste to have a nice GPU and not using it. Another great thing wold be using some older GPU's i have around here, and put them in my rig for a while. My goal is to upgrade the rig to 4 ~ 8 GPU's over time (might take a while to get it fully upgraded).
This makes me wonder, shold i go get a mobo with lots of slots? or just a few slots?
I aint gonna use all those slots yet, so it might be better to buy low budget mobo for now, and buy a better mobo once i get to 4+ GPUs?

Here is how my shopping list looks so far:

Powah ^.^
Try not to buy hardware twice if you don't have a plan to sell it. This motherboard should do well. It has nice spacing for 3 cards and allows for up to 6 with risers. The 1080ti is a great choice and shouldn't be obsolete any time soon.

If you use electric heating during the winter you should consider running mining in the rig's down time as it is profitable now. Although the FE card likes to sit at 84C which is a little warm for me, so bumping up the fans is required.

Okay so i better stick to 1 GPU and buy everything on list & the mobo you recommanded.
I also love the idea of mining in the winter, cuz i have a swimming pool wich has heating systems in the pool house. The pool house has electric heating in the winter to make sure the system wont freeze/expand so the pool house has to be atleast + 1 °C.

I hope that makes mining a bit profitable so i cold buy a new GPU over time, or upgrade something else.

EDIT: Details for the Mobo "Supports 7th/6th Generation Intel Core Processors"
i am using a "intel 8th Gen Core i3-8100" wich says "Compatible only with Motherboards based on Intel 300 Series Chipsets".. no i am thinking if those will fit or not :/

You're absolutly right, you need a mobo with a Z370 chipset. Like these:
