Dude, oclhashcat-puls can NOT crack SHA512(Unix). Use hashcat-0.39 (https://hashcat.net/hashcat/) (The CPU version).

For fixed length you need to set --pw-min|max, so yes, you last command is correct. And no, you do not need to disable markov, it will not skip any combination in the given range. It will only change...

CPU's hashcat doesn't read hashes from command-line. Make sure you're using the proper relative path of hash-file.
