Post: RE: Build configuration

Additionally, you can get a cheaper 1070 Ti and get *just* under 1080 performance at stock clocks.

I too would stay away from AMD cards. I repurposed an AMD mining rig for hashcat and decided to sell off my inventory for Nvidia. As for distribution software, I use hashtopolis.

The problem is your card, which is from 2006, and not hashcat. As dioxide said, you need a GPU from this decade. The 8800 has 128 MB of usable VRAM.

Also be sure that the case you’re looking at can fit all 4 GPUs. I didn’t look at anything more than the pictures and it looks like only 3 fit. Seemed that the PSU was in the way.

You don't have any OpenCL driver installed for you GPU. Google for the correct OpenCL platform based on your system and install it.

I haven’t tested myself, but I don’t think we’re nearly at the realm of AMD. My dual R9 390X each sucked up almost 400W. The 2080 Ti, while certainly a HORRIBLE card for the money, can’t even ...

Honestly, neither. Vega will overheat and throttle very quick, and the RTX 2070 is way overpriced. If you can find a 1080 at $300-$400 that’s probably your best bet. I got a 1080 used for $300 a few...

The power consumption is half of what killed Vega. Unless you’re water cooled, you’re guaranteed to overheat within a minute or two. Stability is nonexistent in a large chunk of AMD cards.

Be sure to install with --opencl=rocm flag set, otherwise you will either get an error or hashcat will just hang. I'm using 17.50 with 3 RX 480s and 1 RX 570 from here: https://support.amd.com/en-us...
