You are wrong, but not totally wrong. Depends on what you're working with.

Post: RE: How about RAR5 to hashcat?

No that's incorrect, rar2john supports RAR5. The problem is, it is not a standalone utility. It is compiled into john. I've looked at breaking it out into a standalone utility, but it will take a lot ...

Yes, your hash has a cost of B, so 2^11 = 2048 iterations.

400 is the correct mode. $P$ is the hash signature, the "B" you are referring to is not part of the signature. That character is the cost factor specified as a single hex character. The example hash o...

It's strange to me that you are looking for answers in the code first, instead of simply observing the behavior of the program.

Post: RE: Amplifier - what is it?

In order to gain acceleration when using compute devices such as GPUs, we have to actually give the device some work to do -- hashing alone is usually not enough to gain acceleration. For most formats...

This thread is over 2 years old and OP hasn't posted on the forums since, so why are you reviving it from the dead?

Looks like a direct implementation of Taylor Hornsby's PHP PBKDF2 function, which should be compatible with -m 10900, but doesn't look like it is. I modified the input format to match 10900, but it's ...

You need to have an X server running, the user needs to have Xauth and/or ACLs need to be disabled, and the proper environment variable needs to be exported. Have a look at the wiki article on the top...

Mmm, I think you're a bit confused. The mask is not at all driven by the hash algorithm (well, for the most part, a few exceptions), but rather by what you believe the plaintext value might be. The ma...

You'll probably have better luck controlling the fan speed on the GPUs rather than the chassis fans. GTX 980 is a very low-power GPU, you shouldn't have any issues cooling it.
