I'm pretty critical of the Graymatter chassis: https://hashcat.net/forum/thread-3874-post-22234.html#pid22234

Post: RE: FPGA cards?

Royce nailed it. Hashcat theoretically supports any device on any OpenCL platform -- but only theoretically. In reality, only CPUs and GPUs are actually supported. OpenCL on FPGA is still in its infan...

Post: RE: AMD HD 6990 GPU and Amdgpu-pro driver

You switched from Nvidia to AMD? That's a bit backwards. AMD dropped support for TeraScale GPUs so you'll need to use an old fglrx driver (15.09 or 15.12 should work) along with an older distribution ...

I typically do not recommend using UPS for cracking rigs. For one, as radix identified, UPS won't do a whole lot for a cracking rig under load. Most likely won't even keep it on long enough to gracefu...

Cracking on a laptop (especially an Ultrabook!) is a horrible idea. They are not capable of dissipating the heat of any component running with any significant load for any duration of time (not even m...

Search the forums, I've been very critical of them but they've worked okay for others.

Probably because you searched for "gray matters" instead of "graymatter"?

Post: RE: 1080 TI - new best bang for buck?

R9 Fury X was never the best. GTX 1080 Ti and GTX Titan XP should have clock-for-clock identical performance. But it won't have the best bang for the buck. If we look at MD5 perf per dollar: GTX...

Yeah I didn't realize until later that the price points Nvidia advertised were for OEM cards, not FE. We used FE prices when calculating the new Brutalis price points. However, if you're simply looki...

Well... Yes and no ;) You're correct: you should take the total build cost into consideration. There's a reason we do not offer the GTX 1070 in the Brutalis in a clustered configuration, it throws t...

Post: RE: Ryzen OpenCL benchmarks?

AMD dropped XOP from their ISA and failed to add 256bit registers, so Ryzen will be seriously shitty for password cracking. Much slower than Intel CPUs with AVX2.

Are you sure? Last I saw they had dropped XOP and hadn't added any 256-bit registers. Now that I'm searching for this, I see lots of mixed reports: some say it has AVX2, other say it has no AVX2. I ca...

1200W PSU will not be sufficient. There's no reason to skimp on the PSU, go with 1600W 80plus Platinum or Titanium. I would go with 64GB DDR4 for that build, but you'll probably be fine with 32GB.
