hashcat does not support dmg, and there's nothing you can do to trick it into working with dmg. further, the "hash" that is extracted with dmg2john is not a hash at all. there is no stored password...

that's not 16 bit, that's 64 bit. and you're probably not specifying the correct mode.

"out of memory" means device memory, not host memory. but this is a known issue with vcl. try restarting opencld on all of the nodes, then restart the broker.

ah yeah sorry, you're correct that it is out of host memory. my fault. anyway, at this point you should probably know that we abandoned VCL quite awhile ago for pretty much these reasons.

if you do not have Xauthority then yes, that is the problem. add the autologin and nopassword stuff, that is why it is there.

yes. further, you shouldn't ever extract a new copy of hashcat into an existing hashcat tree. always start with a fresh tree.
