it's the same thing. can you do further testing to determine if you're only seeing this with certain algorithms, certain modes, certain number of hashes, plus vs lite, etc?

multirules only apply to straight mode. they do not work with other modes, including combinator mode. the only rules that work with combinator mode are single rules (-j & -k)

Yes, that is the error you will receive if you are not using the vclHashcat binaries. Maybe atom can do another quick release, or give you a beta license so that you can continue testing.

phpass is a slow algorithm, and you're using an nvidia gpu. so yes, it will probably take a long time to brute force. better to do wordlist and rule based attacks.

If you have an AMD GPU, you should not be using cudaHashcat64.exe. CUDA is for Nvidia only. Maybe you can post your command line.
