Post: RE: Review - AMD Radeon R9 290X
Bringing this thread back on track, I've determined that most of the problems identified at the start of this thread are caused by Overdrive6. Or rather, the lack of Overdrive6 support in the current ... |

it is on topic. you asked why there are no windows vcl binaries, and if they have intentions of making windows binaries. the answer is they only care about linux binaries, because they only care about... |

do you really mean > 5000, or do you really mean < 5000? if you mean > 5000, then go with the tyan ft77, hands down. if you mean < 5000, go with a UD7 in a Chenbro RM41300. |

what does that have to do with hashcat, or even with compute in general? reviews like this have been out there for well over a month now, and are completely worthless for our purposes. from a compute ... |

Thread: 15k budget - how would you spend it?
Post: RE: 15k budget - how would you spend it?
search through the hardware forum, we cover this a lot :) but the ft77 is definitely a great place to start, either with 8x 7970 or 4x 7990. and i'd absolutely avoid water cooling. also, i just sent y... |

Post: RE: 15k budget - how would you spend it?
there's a complicated reason for why i haven't done that, but the simple answer is, i have a financial motivation not to do so, and it would be inappropriate for me to advertise on these forums. |

you may or may not see melted plastic. if you do see melted plastic, then yes you will need to replace the motherboard and psu.

^ this. three or four 7970s will do well with it though. but you need to make sure that case can handle four 7970s with the UD7. most can't. |

that chassis you linked to definitely won't hold four GPUs.
the best chassis for the UD7 is Chenbro RM41300-FS81. |

Thread: Cost optimized GPU farm
Post: RE: Cost optimized GPU farm
Stay away from the 2027GR-TRFH. I know it looks tempting, six GPUs in 2U, but it does not work for our purposes.
First, it requires passive GPUs with a special mounting bracket (which Teslas have.)... |

you don't really gain anything with expansion enclosures since you're still going to hit the 8 GPU limit, plus you have the drawback of increased startup latency due to sharing 8 devices over one lane... |
