Post: RE: Radeon R9 390X News

When I say "manycore CPU" I'm talking about a Xeon Phi-like accelerator, such as if Adapteva ever made the 4096-core variant of their Epiphany chip that they claim they can make. If you saw Katja ...

As you've identified, most mining rigs run with bare-minimum CPU and RAM, and this is far from ideal for hash cracking rigs. You can sometimes get away with an underpowered CPU, though wordlist manipu...

Not a very astute observation. Obviously you have to give the GPU enough work to do. If you only feed 120 candidates to an algorithm that can pull somewhere in the KH/s range, then you're obviously st...

check your clocks. maybe one card is factory overclock and the other one isn't. 100 Mhz overclock is quite mild, so you likely won't have any issues running that 24/7.

Look at the block diagram for the board. The board has 4x PLX chips, two per CPU. That means each CPU directly controls two GPUs on two PLX chips. So you need both CPUs. On older models you could get ...

Mobile GPUs typically do not show good performance for hash cracking, especially if you're looking at R4 & R5 GPUs. The R5 from that first laptop you linked to would be about 24x slower than a 290X. ...

295X2 doesn't just throttle for heat, it also throttles for power consumption. 4096 cores on GCN with the die shrink will likely want to draw somewhere between 375W - 425W at full load, but the card i...

6x 7990 is not possible. 7990 is a dual-GPU card, so 6*2 = 12 GPUs. However the driver only supports 8 GPUs. Maximum possible 7990s in one system is 4.

sm_1x devices were dropped in CUDA 7. If you are using pyrit with CUDA, then you're likely using an older driver with CUDA 6 or earlier.
