Hm, ok, it looked to me they were running at the same clock speed (1215MHz), so the +50% shaders should deliver a +50% performance.

You need a big computer ;) I mentioned a specific model in my post; Google it.

Thread: Requested advice for hardware
Post: RE: Requested advice for hardware
AMD used to be the way to go for many years. This is no longer the case starting with Nvidia Maxwell. The best GPUs you can buy right now are GTX 970, GTX 980, and GTX Titan X. |

Thread: New build
Post: RE: New build
The GPU you've selected is an OEM design card, not a reference design card, which we would never recommend buying for hash cracking. Further, I would strongly recommend the GTX 970 over the 290X. |

Thread: GTX970 - Overclocking GPU
Post: RE: GTX970 - Overclocking GPU
Mild overclocking is totally safe as long as you keep the temps below dangerous levels (for the most part, under 90C is acceptable.) In most cases it's a bit dumb if you aren't overclocking, since tha... |

Thread: Identifying reference design GTX 980s
Post: RE: Identifying reference design GTX 980s
Uhh, no it isn't. The one in the picture is an OEM design card based on the GTX 750 PCB. It has a centrifugal blower like a reference design card, but it is most definitely an OEM design card.
The ... |

Thread: Nvidia GTX Titan X Benchmarks
Post: RE: Nvidia GTX Titan X Benchmarks
We don't measure "hash correctness", this is not an issue. We measure stability by whether or not the GPU hangs at certain frequencies.
And you could easily measure "hash correctness" by running a li... |

Post: RE: Nvidia GTX Titan X Benchmarks
The GPU will hang very quickly if the frequency is unstable.
You'd have to do some serious overvolting to get much more of an overclock out of these GPUs. |

Thread: Mini Case for 2 Gpu cards

Hmm, looks like you could squeeze a couple GPUs in there. I have some concerns about chassis airflow, you'd absolutely have to go with reference design cards. Yes, Nvidia has reference design cards, t... |

Thread: Identifying reference design GTX 980s

Historically that has been the simplest means of distinguishing most reference design cards. But this is not always true. Some reference design cards have axial fans (e.g., HD 7990) and, like above, s... |

I feel like this has been covered ad nauseam, but I'll explain it once more.
The difference between reference design cards and OEM design cards is quality and reliability.

Heh yeah, graphics performance is irrelevant for hash cracking. Titan X slaughters 290X. |

If the 390X is anything like it is rumored to be, I won't even bother benchmarking it. |
