AMD used to be the way to go for many years. This is no longer the case starting with Nvidia Maxwell. The best GPUs you can buy right now are GTX 970, GTX 980, and GTX Titan X.

Post: RE: New build

The GPU you've selected is an OEM design card, not a reference design card, which we would never recommend buying for hash cracking. Further, I would strongly recommend the GTX 970 over the 290X.

Post: RE: GTX970 - Overclocking GPU

Mild overclocking is totally safe as long as you keep the temps below dangerous levels (for the most part, under 90C is acceptable.) In most cases it's a bit dumb if you aren't overclocking, since tha...

Uhh, no it isn't. The one in the picture is an OEM design card based on the GTX 750 PCB. It has a centrifugal blower like a reference design card, but it is most definitely an OEM design card. The ...

We don't measure "hash correctness", this is not an issue. We measure stability by whether or not the GPU hangs at certain frequencies. And you could easily measure "hash correctness" by running a li...

The GPU will hang very quickly if the frequency is unstable. You'd have to do some serious overvolting to get much more of an overclock out of these GPUs.
