hashcat does not support dmg, and there's nothing you can do to trick it into working with dmg. further, the "hash" that is extracted with dmg2john is not a hash at all. there is no stored password...

mixing and matching normally isn't a problem, but in this case you're talking about mixing Overdrive5 / PowerTune 1.0 and Overdrive6 / PowerTune 2.0 cards, and at least one person has reported problem...

If I understand correctly, you want to brute force both the key AND part of the message? To approach this with hashcat you will need to generate 10000 possible messages, one for each possible value...

see the footnote on the page you downloaded it from. the password is 'hashcat!' not 'hashcat' as WPA has a minimum of 8 chars. as to why it's not finding the password, trailing whitespace maybe? ed...
