JTR and hashcat seem to run ok with the file but no idea if it is actually doing anything.

What does this mean? How are you attempting to crack it with hashcat? |

Thread: ERROR: clGetDeviceIDs() -1
Post: RE: ERROR: clGetDeviceIDs() -1
You are using 15.12 which does not support VLIW cards, only GCN. You either need a newer GPU or an older driver. |

I believe 15.9 was the last version that supported ancient cards. |

It doesn't. We've been unsuccessful in making hashcat work with Pico/Micron's FPGA solutions. |

You should read about the difference between literal keyspace and hashcat keyspace. |

You're not saying exactly how many "multiple" is, nor what attack you are running. But if you're trying to compare single hash brute force speed to e.g. multihash rule-based attacks, you simply can't ... |

Sure, lots of people have tried, and some even do indeed continue to use AWS. But AWS GPUs are shit for password cracking, the Perf/$ is atrocious, and it gets very expensive quite quickly. It doesn't... |

If you look at the algorithms Hashcat supports, you'll see that one of those algorithms is indeed Plaintext. |

Post: RE: GTX650M faster than GTX960 in some hashes
There's definitely a major, catastrophic problem with the "Macbook w/ 650M" system; atom must have missed the "1182.5 GH/s" on MD4 which is definitely inaccurate to say the least. It looks like there'... |

I'm not aware of hashcat32.bin containing any opcodes that your CPU doesn't support (I think we only need SSE2 support), but I strongly suspect your 10-year old CPU is the problem here nonetheless. Yo... |

UUoC! awk 'length == 8' dict1 > dict2
For the second one, a 'for' loop won't work if the wordlist has more lines than ARG_MAX or if the words contain spaces, plus UUoC again, so that would be a very ... |
