Post: RE: Crypto Miner Conversion

As you've identified, most mining rigs run with bare-minimum CPU and RAM, and this is far from ideal for hash cracking rigs. You can sometimes get away with an underpowered CPU, though wordlist manipu...

Not a very astute observation. Obviously you have to give the GPU enough work to do. If you only feed 120 candidates to an algorithm that can pull somewhere in the KH/s range, then you're obviously st...

No, he's referring to Taylor Hornby's lookup tables which index the first 64bits of each hash stored in the table. That's how his tables are getting "partial hits." That doesn't mean you can crack "ha...

If you're getting an ASIC hang during NTLM brute force, then it is very likely a power issue. How big is your PSU?

Those 290Xs will draw around 320W on NTLM brute force, so your GPUs alone are likely pulling around 960W. Doesn't leave much power available for everything else in your system. Plus that's a pretty lo...

The speeds look fine to me, atom. Both the single hash speeds and the multi-hash speeds. Are you perhaps looking at the speed of the Firepro card?

Your mask syntax is incorrect. You should re-read the wiki page on Mask Attacks, particularly the section on custom charsets.

I'm not sure where you saw the 390 has less cores than the 290, they both have 2560. In fact the R9 390 is literally the exact same card as the R9 290, it's just a rebrand, so that would not be an upg...

Should be able to hit 210-215 KH/s with the 980 while drawing about half the power of the 290. Can't comment on noise.
