Hashcat is very fast, but the algorithms you are reading about are for fast hashes like MD5 and NTLM. WPA on the other hand is very very slow, and you have a shitty GPU. At the speeds you are getting ...

Drivium Wrote: (12-22-2014, 09:02 PM) -- would I be better off using my CPU -- No, your CPU is likely much slower. I reckon you'd probably only get around 8 KH/s with your CPU. Drivium Wrote: (...

Wordlist attacks for sure, possibly rule-based if you are very smart about which rules you select, and maybe targeted mask attacks. Basically you're probably not going to be able to "cold crack" WP...

Post: RE: Very very smallest the cracking speed 7870 XT

This is likely your problem: Quote: -- -w 2 --gpu-temp-retain 45 -- Get rid of --gpu-temp-retain and use -w 3. Your 7870 is also clocked at 725 Mhz instead of 975 Mhz, so that's another ...

Post: RE: Very very smallest the cracking speed 7870 XT

Ok, so with the proper workload settings you're getting 102.7 KH/s - 103.3 KH/s with your 7870, which aligns perfectly with the theoretical max performance of 106.9 KH/s. Therefore oclHashcat is quite...

Post: RE: Very very smallest the cracking speed 7870 XT

First, there is no "special limitation." Second, those other programs are lying to you. Your GPU has 1536 cores @ 975 Mhz, and WPA2 has ~ 14000000 instructions. Therefore the theoretical maximum pe...

If you're using Windows, you'll need to use the free version of Driver Fusion to completely remove the old driver before installing 14.9

you can specify multiple wordlists or a directory containing wordlists. try reading the --help output & the wiki.

All you had to do was search the forums & search Trac. There are several threads on this issue already.

As a workaround you can use the external combinator utility from hashcat-utils and pipe it into oclHashcat. WPA is a slow algorithm so there shouldn't be much if any speed loss.

:0.1, not 0.1 But if you have 290X you should consider od6config instead of amdconfig.

Sounds like you only have xorg configured to use one GPU. Try running the following command: Code: -- amdconfig --adapter=all --initial -f -- You might also want to look over https://hashcat....

Yeah those -n/-u values don't really make sense. If you don't know what you're doing with those, just use ''-w 3'' instead.

Post: RE: ERROR: clEnqueueCopyBuffer() -30

The optimal -n/-u values vary depending on the algorithm. The -n/-u values you were using are for WPA, not MD5. Typically for MD5 you'd use -n 128 -u 1024 (or -n 256 if you have the RAM to support it....

This is what the combinator attack is designed for, but you can use rules if you really want to. The way you identified using single-char append is the only way to do it.
