Post: RE: PSU for 3x R9 290x

a good power supply is cheap insurance, there's absolutely no excuse to not buy the best psu you can find. otherwise, you will likely end up buying another power supply AND motherboard. personal fa...

Post: RE: PSU for 3x R9 290x

no reason to get such as small psu. even with 130W headroom that's still running at 87% load. no reason to buy a slightly cheaper psu and put that much load on it. just spend a little bit more and get...

Post: RE: combination attack help

first, '-k ?d?d' is incorrect, that's a mask not a rule. second, you're likely seeing a lot of rejected combinations because the words in your wordlists are too short. a 3-char word + a 3-char word...

you are defining a custom character set, but you are not supplying a mask that actually uses that character set.

Post: RE: BOM - 2x R9 290X - Rackmount Chassis

1U and 2U rackmount will not work with GPUs that have top-mounted power plugs, which is currently every GPU to date that has been worthwhile for hash cracking. So you'll have to go 4U. The GPU you ...

that motherboard is kind of an awkward choice (visualize the card layout), but everything else is solid.

yes, the slot layout is awkward. it will work, it's just not symmetrical.

they are called machine accounts. https://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2009/02/15/test2.aspx yes, they are ntlm hashes. iirc they are 14-character random passwords.

i believe machine hashes are used to join machines to the domain, so if you crack a machine hash, then i believe you can use it to join a rogue machine to the domain. edit: but you are very unlikely ...

Hm, ok, that is quite strange. 5970 is absolutely supported by that driver. Is this a card that you've owned awhile and have used previously, or is this a card you recently acquired?

Heh 0 H/s. From everything you've described in your last two posts, that is a dead GPU.

R9 295X is not ideal because it uses a hybrid cooler and has a very low Powertune max target temperature, which causes it to aggressively throttle. Dual GPU cards are almost never the way to go, but t...
