Thread: First Time User - MD5 Help ("Updating" password w/ digits)
Post: RE: First Time User - MD5 Help ("Updating" passwor...

You have two problems here. First problem, the input data is way too long, oclHashcat does not support input of that length. Second problem, you can't math. Your keyspace isn't 145*38, it's 145...

Post: RE: First Time User - MD5 Help ("Updating" passwor...

hashcat and oclHashcat are optimized for short inputs, like passwords, and thus only implement a single MD5 block (55 bytes.) You are wanting to hash 434 bytes, so you need a generic multiblock implem...

No it would be... oh for fucks sake, how did I fuck that up? Yes you're correct, it would indeed be 38^145. Ugh that's like the second "correct but details are wrong" answer I've given in two weeks, I...

You put characters into a file. That's all there is to it. Look at the hcchr files that ship with hashcat for inspiration.

Sure, just do a mask attack. Since the unknown content is variable-length you'd probably use an hcmask file.

The only thing you're really doing wrong is using a virtual machine. There's zero reason to do that, there's a hashcat for every OS. The other problem is that you didn't really specify in your fir...

Yes, you're wrong. There's nothing wrong with running the fan at 100%. The Founders Edition cools just fine and doesn't throttle. Stop reading reviews from gamers and graphics people.

Post: RE: oclHashcat FPGA support

This is all moot because the state of OpenCL on FPGA is abysmal, but even if it wasn't, the cost of an FPGA board suited to hash cracking is astronomical.

AMD dropped support for VLIW cards like three driver versions ago, so your card is too old to use hashcat. Maybe you can find an old driver that will work, or just buy a new GPU.

That VGA chipset does not have programmable shaders, and even if it did, it would surely be many times slower than your CPU.
