Thread: fglrx will not load: KCL_AtomicTestBit
Post: RE: fglrx will not load: KCL_AtomicTestBit
of course the glaring null ptr deref there is a pretty big indication of a bug in the driver, but i can't say any of us have experienced that.
have you tried testing each gpu individually, or two at ... |

what kernel are you using, by the way? all of my systems are on 3.2.0-39-generic. it could be that a more recent backported patch was introduced that has broken compatibility with 13.1 |

Post: RE: Which HD 7970s are you using in Linux?
a 7970 is a 7970, regardless of OEM. they all use the same GPU provided by AMD. some come out of the manufacturing process better than others and thus can be pushed to higher clocks, but they're all t... |

you should be able to push the clocks on that card to 1100Mhz with no problems. you can even flash the other card's bios onto that card to get the proper voltage tweaks if necessary. but it shouldn't ... |

haha ok. we've had some growing pains with one of our FT72B7015's as well, and what we ended up doing was pulling it out of the rack and leaving it at the office for a few days until we could work out... |

first, you're comparing lite to plus. second, you're using a salted algorithm, not a raw algorithm. third, we have no idea how many hashes/unique salts you're cracking because you did not paste the fu... |

also, i don't know if you caught it, but in my benchmark output that you link to, you'll see that i'm running my 5970s at 830Mhz. so if you're running yours at 725Mhz, you need to take that into accou... |

yep, 5xxx series was super prone to ASIC hangs with even mild overclocking. there's not much headroom on those cards. i don't go higher than 880 Mhz on my 5870s, and that's with overvolting. |

Thread: 5970 slow?

the salt makes a difference depending on the number of hashes, and also whether it's salt.pass or pass.salt. i have only posted benchmarks for lite, which only supports pass.salt. -m 120 is salt.pass,... |

you're running the wrong binary, should be using cudaHashcat not oclHashcat. oclHashcat is for AMD. |

oclHashcat is not open source and thus ships pre-compiled kernels. The kernels are compiled for 13.1 and will not work with other versions. Although 13.4 seems to be close enough to 13.1 that a lot of... |

Post: RE: oclHashcat-plus throws an error?!
cuCtxCreate() is returning 2, which is CUDA_ERROR_OUT_OF_MEMORY. Your card does not have enough memory for whatever attack you are running. I would be surprised if an 8800 even worked at all. |

The remarkable cracking speeds you have are far more due to what you've done with SHA1 in GPUs, but there is this design flaw as well.

you're assuming brute force, which no one would be dumb enough to do.
a more significant measurement: 3 MH/s means we can get through rockyou in 4.7s, rockyou + d3ad0ne.rule in 90m. |

this is to be expected if using only ?d - ?d?d?d with -a 7 because you aren't giving the left side enough work to do. |
