i vote for flexibility over speed. speed is great, but having a more powerful and flexible engine gives you more control and more creativity, and can lead to finding more plains faster. and that's all... |

Thread: slow cracking WPA2 on GeForce GT320M
Post: RE: slow cracking WPA2 on GeForce GT320M
it is absolutely possible that it is faster on cpu than on your gpu. gpus are not magic "everything goes faster" devices. you're using a very low-end mobile chipset. |

1. there are no arm binaries for hashcat, only x86.
2. the raspberry pi's gpu does not support gpgpu
3. there is no opencl platform for the raspberry pi because of #2 |

are you positive that it's not outputting them properly, or is the real issue that whatever you are using to read the pot is unable to display them properly? |

linux noob.
install dkms so that when you upgrade your kernel, fglrx will automatically be re-built for the new kernel. |

the syntax for -a 1 is different for plus than with hashcat. -a 1 works fine in plus, you don't need to pre-generate any dictionaries or use pipes.
everything already is beautiful, you just can't b... |

Thread: Radeon HD 7990 Review

Just unboxed an XFX Radeon R7990 and decided to try it out with lite.
First impression, the card is extremely sturdy and well-built. The shroud is all metal. The heatsink and fan setup appear adequ... |

Post: RE: Radeon HD 7990 Review
yeah, ~ 17.7 GH/s at 1000 Mhz. same speed as 2x 7970 at the same clock.
the heatsink on the 7990 is really nice, I think the problem is a combination of the slow fans and the vent design. the fans ... |

it would be problematic to try to passively cool it, yes. but i think it has sufficient airflow to prevent overheating with active cooling. |

Thread: infiniband setup guide?
Post: RE: infiniband setup guide?
VCL only works with TCP/IP, so to use Infiniband with VCL, you need to do IP over Infiniband.
If you're using Debian/Ubuntu, it's very simple.
Add the following to /etc/modules
Code:

Thread: VLC/IB cluster: SDR vs FDR adapters

By VLS I think you mean VCL. And no, Inifiniband is not supported by VCL at all. All VCL supports is TCP/IP. But you can do TCP/IP over Infiniband. So in that regard it doesn't matter what speed Infin... |

If you want to do Infiniband, then you have to invest in an additional HCA for the broker node -- that's the entire point. If your broker node is not using Infiniband, then the entire cluster is not u... |

Post: RE: 9600 GT vs 9800 GTX+
less vram is inconsequential. the 9800 should be faster than the 9600, and even though cudaExample0 may not be enough to achieve full acceleration, the 9800 should still post higher numbers. so it cou... |

Thread: Sapphire HD7970 Reference Design
Post: RE: Sapphire HD7970 Reference Design
the first gpu is the reference design card, which is what you want. i would not consider the "newer" model as it suggests.
cpu only matters if you plan to use cpu hashcat as well. |
