Currently I run an ATI 6990 and I'm looking to upgrade it.

not really much you could upgrade to, 6990 is already one of the fastest gpus available. ma... |

Thread: Advice on GPU purchase
Post: RE: Advice on GPU purchase
if you have a 6970 then a 7970 would definitely be a good upgrade. a second 6970 would be a good upgrade as well, especially since used prices are cheap. no, you definitely don't have to go with a 799... |

Thread: Advice on HP Nvidia Tesla K40 GPUs
Post: RE: Advice on HP Nvidia Tesla K40 GPUs
Yeah, you won't find much out there about the K40. Very few people crack with Teslas since they're slower than their GTX (and now RTX) counterparts at 15x the price. And Kepler is especially garbage f... |

Thread: Advice on HP Nvidia Tesla K40 GPUs
Post: RE: Advice on HP Nvidia Tesla K40 GPUs
You're kind of all over the map here. You just went from 4x $105 GPUs to possibly 2x $700 GPUs or 3x $150 GPUs.
I think you need to:
1. Determine your budget, as this will always be the most im... |

Thread: Advice on Rack Chassis for RTX FE GPUs
Post: RE: Advice on Rack Chassis for RTX FE GPUs
Nvidia RTX 20-series is an exception to the "always buy reference design" rule. You definitely do not want the FE cards for Hashcat. |

you cannot always get full performance out of plus. to quote atom, "dude! you have to give it work!" speeds can vary greatly depending on what exactly you are doing.

Thread: again AMD (290X/390x) vs NV GFX 970
Post: RE: again AMD (290X/390x) vs NV GFX 970
GTX 970 is roughly the same speed as 290X while drawing half the power, and won't damage your motherboard like the 290X will. And also fuck AMD. |

The remarkable cracking speeds you have are far more due to what you've done with SHA1 in GPUs, but there is this design flaw as well.

no, that's only half the issue.
the other half of the issue is that 2 blocks of hmac-sha1 are required to generate 320 bits, but only 1 block is required to validate the password. defenders have to d... |

Post: RE: Agilebits 1Password support and Design Flaw?
you're assuming brute force, which no one would be dumb enough to do.
a more significant measurement: 3 MH/s means we can get through rockyou in 4.7s, rockyou + d3ad0ne.rule in 90m. |

Isn't the point of the OCLHashcat optimizations that these are being brute forced? Using a dictionary attack is a whole different ballgame.
