| AMD published some teasers back in December of last year, but haven't said a word about it since. they continue to release GCN-based GPUs, so i presume GCN2 just simply doesn't exist. |

| nah, it's not risky. that's precisely what the r&d budget is for ;) we'll toss 8 into a tyan ft77 and see how they perform. if they aren't stellar, we can still use them internally. |

| those temps are almost exclusively with the boosted clock. at the base 800 Mhz i think (hope!) it will do a little bit better. |

| oclHashcat doesn't touch the fans, so there is no default fan config for oclHashcat. you still need to use amdconfig or od6config to control your fans.

| oh ok, 70C under load is just fine then. ideally you want it to be under 90C under load. though the 290X can safely be run above 90C, it will start to throttle if you get too close to 95C as you found... |
