If clinfo failed then you probably didn't have the appropriate environment variables set correctly. Maybe you dropped them in .bashrc but hadn't yet sourced that file.

that is not the proper driver download location. you need the driver from amd.com.

depends on if you want reference or non-reference design. the asus directcu II is the best non-reference card i've seen. perfect for desktops.
