Thread: Best gpu for $250 or lower
Post: RE: Best gpu for $250 or lower
7970 doesn't run hot unless you buy an OEM design card, which you should never do. Always buy reference design. If you're open to buying used GPUs, then a used 7970 reference design would be within yo... |

That is an OEM design card, not a reference design card. You will have cooling issues with that card. |

Thread: Best hashcat configurations for this CPU?
Post: RE: Best hashcat configurations for this CPU?
the Pentium Dual-Core E2140 is an old 65nm Allendale circa 2007, it does not support AVX2. doesn't support HT, either. so just hashcat-cli64.bin -n 2 |

look at the hcmask files that ship with hashcat.
also the default charset & mask is pretty good at longer lengths.

thank you for sharing your attack plan!
as a reminder, with the new hcmask feature, you can just put all of these masks into one hcmask file to run through them in one invocation. that way you don'... |

Thread: Best Performance Video Cards?

i'd go with the Nvidia Riva 128, or maybe a S3 Savage 4. Voodoo 3 2000 shows great hashcat performance, too. |

at 850W you will be drawing 1025W from the wall. and your psu is capable of sustaining 850W output. see the 80plus certification (https://www.plugloadsolutions.com/psu_reports/XFX%20TECHNOLOGY_XPS-850W... |

your psu is only 80plus bronze, and looking at the 80plus certification, at full load you're pulling 1025W from the wall and pushing 851W for an efficiency of 83%.
at those clocks and voltages, yo... |

970 is faster than the 390, and roughly the same speed as the 390X.
If you plan to stack two cards then you absolutely do not want axial fans, so the ACX 2.0 is not the way to go, nor is the 390. Y... |

yeah, brute force would take a bit of time with only a single gpu.
frt should have them, but they might be cuda only. bitweasil might be willing to generate some for grtcrack. would only take a few... |

I'm in favor of a new contest, but it should be against a larger corpus of non-uniqued hashes from multiple sources.

I strongly disagree, James. Duplicates are essential for sorting rules by probability. Just as you'd never generate an hcstat file with a wordlist that's been uniq'd. By removing duplicates you are sk... |

Presumably we'd be working against a list of plains, not hashes, and use -m 9999 to help develop the rules. |
