The legacy driver will not work, and cudaHashcat will not work with your GPU, it is simply too old.

100% positive. cudaHashcat requires CUDA 7, and CUDA 7 does not not support your GPU.

the mask does not randomize the positions, no. a mask is a per-position character set, so only the character set used in each position will be tried. don't forget to add '-w 3' to your command line...

Command is fine. Problem is cuLaunchKernel() returned 701, which is CUDA_ERROR_LAUNCH_OUT_OF_RESOURCES. You might be able to get it to run with a lower -n value.

yes, i mean hardware. the problem is sha512 requires much more vram than the other hash types, hence the out of resources error.

sha512 hashes in linux shadow file is actually sha512crypt, not raw sha512.

see the footnote on the page you downloaded it from. the password is 'hashcat!' not 'hashcat' as WPA has a minimum of 8 chars. as to why it's not finding the password, trailing whitespace maybe? ed...
