Thread: Formatting mask for mask attack
Post: RE: Formatting mask for mask attack

You'll need to generate an hcmask file with multiple masks to cover all of the possible positions, but honestly a rule-based attack with the appropriate substitutions might be a better approach.

hashcat and oclHashcat are optimized for short inputs, like passwords, and thus only implement a single MD5 block (55 bytes.) You are wanting to hash 434 bytes, so you need a generic multiblock implem...

You have two problems here. First problem, the input data is way too long, oclHashcat does not support input of that length. Second problem, you can't math. Your keyspace isn't 145*38, it's 145...

You're cracking a small list of unsalted hashes. Try cracking a larger set of salted hashes, and you'll see why CPU & RAM matter.

not sure why you would waste your money on two mid-range GPUs and have to fight with heat & power requirements, instead of just buying one high-end GPU which will be just as fast without the headache.

by my calculation, 2x 7870 Ghz Edition would only be 16.28% faster than a single 7970 Ghz Edition, but will require 120W more power. not worth it, just get a 7970.
