Sounds like the kernel module built okay, but the libraries didn't get installed properly. How did you install the driver?

It will only work with 14.9. oclHashcat releases are tied to specific Catalyst releases. You have to use precisely that version.

yes. but hashcat does not support reading from stdin, so you'd need to create a named pipe and use that as a wordlist.

"out of memory" means device memory, not host memory. but this is a known issue with vcl. try restarting opencld on all of the nodes, then restart the broker.

ah yeah sorry, you're correct that it is out of host memory. my fault. anyway, at this point you should probably know that we abandoned VCL quite awhile ago for pretty much these reasons.

HD 7000 and HD 8000 are one in the same. the HD 8000 series was just an OEM rebrand of the HD 7000 series. so yes.
