Thread: Brute force with custom charset
Post: RE: Brute force with custom chares

you are defining a custom character set, but you are not supplying a mask that actually uses that character set.

yeah it is. not at all related to hashcat or hash cracking.

Post: RE: Brute Force / Mask

first, you're not going to brute force past length 8 on CPU. you probably won't even get past length 7. second, you don't need to specify --pw-max third, -c with -a 3 does nothing forth, you can r...

Post: RE: Boosting hashcat performance with YouTube

This is all surely related to power management, power states, and clock rate. I would say your GPU is not properly tuned, but I'm honestly not sure how to properly tune a GPU within Windows. It looks ...

Post: RE: BOM - 2x R9 290X - Rackmount Chassis

1U and 2U rackmount will not work with GPUs that have top-mounted power plugs, which is currently every GPU to date that has been worthwhile for hash cracking. So you'll have to go 4U. The GPU you ...

that motherboard is kind of an awkward choice (visualize the card layout), but everything else is solid.

yes, the slot layout is awkward. it will work, it's just not symmetrical.

Post: RE: Bitmain Antminer S3 - can it work?

ASICs are, by their very definition, application-specific. Bitcoin ASICs work with Bitcoin, that's it.

Post: RE: Big hash list problem

GPU #1 does not have enough video memory to handle that many hashes with the new version.

less host memory, not less device memory.

it does use the memory on both cards, but it does so independently of course.

It's the same keyspace for both attacks. Do you understand what "-t 10" does? Hint: Both of your attacks have a keyspace of 10^9.

I'm in favor of a new contest, but it should be against a larger corpus of non-uniqued hashes from multiple sources. best30 & best100 makes sense, but only as long as best30 is simply the top30 rul...
