you won't be able to use a pipe with -a 3 or -a 6. so you'll need to create a dictionary with combinator first, then use -a 6 combined_dict.txt ?d?d?d

The error in your screenshot is from your operating system, not hashcat. You might want to find a Windows tutorial before looking for a hashcat tutorial.

actually i just realized you said you were using a vm, in that case you wouldn't be able to use litecat or pluscat anyway. you can only use hashcat.
