this seems like a really poor approach to crack sha512crypt. i would be hesitant to even use this approach with fast hashes. you will end up with all sorts of garbage and bullshit in your "wordlist" ... |

I concur, out of that list Quadro M6000 is your best bet. Kind of a shitty situation though. You could get 4x Titan X for the price of that card :( |

Yes, the Quadro is underclocked -- that's what Quadro and Tesla cards are, underclocked versions of the GTX cards. But it doesn't matter, you can simply push the clocks up. |

No, he's referring to Taylor Hornby's lookup tables which index the first 64bits of each hash stored in the table. That's how his tables are getting "partial hits." That doesn't mean you can crack "ha... |

I am, but you knew that.
The problem with packaging hashcat right now, as dropdead and I were discussing, is that hashcat doesn't exactly adhere to the FHS. Basically the hashcat directory is a wor... |

Ok, here's an example of a package manifest for oclHashcat 64bit (truncated in places where repetitive)
Code:

I agree with #1-4.
For #5, I'd much rather prefer to see ~/.hashcat/tmp over /tmp/hashcat, if for no other reason than to better enable multiple users to share the same system.

The reason why I suggested an internal search path is to help keep command lines sane.
Here's an example: I want to run a simple rule-based attack.
