Thread: Nvidia GTX 980 ti
Post: RE: Nvidia GTX 980 ti
Temps are a bit high for that card, GPU #7 is the only one that I see running in the range I would expect. However none of them are critical, 83C is fine. You don't really need to be concerned until y... |

Thread: Nvidia GTX 980 ti
Post: RE: Nvidia GTX 980 ti
You're using OEM design GPUs, not reference design GPUs, so that explains almost everything.
The other thing I'm curious about, is this is a 3U chassis clearly designed for GPUs with rear-mounted p... |

Temps are still about 10C too high, but that's to be expected with the GPUs you bought. |

Looks like speed will be about equal to an R9 290, slightly slower than an R9 290X. But that TDP makes up for the difference in performance and then some. Better drivers and no x11 are icing on the ca... |

Thread: Nvidia GTX 980 / GTX 970 (Compute performance added)
Post: RE: Nvidia GTX 980 / GTX 970 (Compute performance ...
We know the real-performance of the 750Ti, and since it is from the same GPU family, the 980 will scale linearly against it. Estimating the speed is simple arithmetic:
750Ti: 640 cores @ 1200 Mhz.

it helps in that you can load large hash lists, and get more parallelism out of obese algorithms like scrypt. but perhaps more important than the quantity of ram is the fact that nvidia has a vastly s... |

Thread: Nvidia Grid K2 card performance = bad
Post: RE: Nvidia Grid K2 card performance = bad
It's a Kepler GPU and thus lacking LOP3.LUT, your expectations shouldn't have been very high. It's not all about cores and clock rates ;) No, in this case PCI passthru is not to blame -- all pre-Maxwe... |

Thread: nVidia GForce 8300 GS not supported
Post: RE: nVidia GForce 8300 GS not supported
sm_1x devices were dropped in CUDA 7. If you are using pyrit with CUDA, then you're likely using an older driver with CUDA 6 or earlier. |

If you installed CUDA via APT then it's surely an old version (maybe CUDA 4 or CUDA 5 depending on the distribution.) For cudaHashcat you must use the latest stable driver from geforce.com. cudaHashca... |

if you looked at your Xorg log you would see that the nouveau driver is called "nv," not "nouveau." all you need to do is stop x11 and rmmod nv. |

"rmmod nv" is the command that you run. you can blacklist it if you wish, but that won't help if it's already loaded.
the page says it requires 310.32 or later, and you have 310.44, so you're fine. |

You need to generate a proper xorg.conf to fake having a monitor attached.

nvidia driver. you're missing the cuda runtime. make sure you install the latest version from nvidia.com, and ensure the installer completes without errors. |
