I am, but you knew that.
The problem with packaging hashcat right now, as dropdead and I were discussing, is that hashcat doesn't exactly adhere to the FHS. Basically the hashcat directory is a wor... |

Ok, here's an example of a package manifest for oclHashcat 64bit (truncated in places where repetitive)
Code:

Post: RE: Packages for Linux distributions
I agree with #1-4.
For #5, I'd much rather prefer to see ~/.hashcat/tmp over /tmp/hashcat, if for no other reason than to better enable multiple users to share the same system.

I disagree partially, we need to distinguish between hashcat and oclHashcat on /usr/share/doc/ because of colliding filenames in the docs/* folder

The reason why I suggested an internal search path is to help keep command lines sane.
Here's an example: I want to run a simple rule-based attack.

if no mask is supplied, hashcat defaults to:
-1 '?l?d?u' -2 '?l?d' -3 '?l?d*!$@_' ?1?2?2?2?2?2?2?3?3?3?3?d?d?d?d
what to put as the mask depends entirely on you. |

Thread: can't get oclhashcat to work

It will only work with 14.9. oclHashcat releases are tied to specific Catalyst releases. You have to use precisely that version. |

AMD dropped support for VLIW cards, only GCN is supported now, so you will not be able to use any newer drivers. I believe Catalyst 15.9 is the last version you can use (though it might be even earlie... |

For Ubuntu 14.04 you don't need to install any of those, just "aptitude install fglrx". This is covered here: https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=linux_server_howto |

oclHashcat releases are tied to specific Catalyst versions. For the current release of oclHashcat you need to use 14.9. Newer drivers only work with beta, and in this case, it doesn't work very well. |

Yes, 14.12 is broken.
With oclHashcat you should be able to get ~ 130 KH/s out of an R9 280X with the proper driver. |
