Post: RE: Detection of multiple CPU

Yeah. OpenCL only exposes one CPU "device" to the application that represents all physical and logical processing cores. It's actually much better that way, very smart way to do it.

Because scrypt. And yes, it will use all cores.

Post: RE: What kind of DES is this?

That's DES encryption. No, it is not currently supported by oclHashcat.

You cannot achieve any acceleration with a straight wordlist attack against a fast hash on GPU. You need an amplifier to gain acceleration. This is why your brute force speeds are so much faster.

Since you're using The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali), let me put this in terms you will understand: "Try Harder."

Post: RE: Why this command line does not work at all?

hashcat doesn't support reading from stdin, you have to use a named pipe.

AMD dropped driver support for non-GCN GPUs. The last driver to support VLIW GPUs was Catalyst 15.9; however, per the front page of the website, "AMD GPUs on Windows require "AMD Radeon Software Crims...

Those threads are over 3 years old. Again, AMD dropped support for all non-GCN GPUs in November 2015. Crimson 16.2 does not support the HD 6850, https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD...

I would suspect your risers are to blame. Also be sure to regenerate xorg.conf with amdconfig.

The issue here is you're trying to compare single hash performance to multi-hash performance. Apples vs. oranges.

Post: RE: Hybrid Attack?

Nope, you're wrong. "-a 1 password.txt ?d?l?d?l" wouldn't do anything unless you actually had a file named "?d?l?d?l", and it would only be the same as "-a 6 password.txt ?d?l?d?l" if the file had all...

md5crypt is salted, so each password candidate has to be re-hashed with each unique salt.
