Hm, ok, that is quite strange. 5970 is absolutely supported by that driver. Is this a card that you've owned awhile and have used previously, or is this a card you recently acquired?

Thread: Is it possible to find the salt for a known password?
Post: RE: Is it possible to find the salt for a known pa...

Easiest way would be to treat it as sha256(pass.salt), use the plaintext password as the salt, and crack the salt as the password. But this begs the question -- if you already have the password, wh...

Post: RE: Is it possible to find the salt for a known pa...

If it's static across all users then it's not a salt, it's a shared secret -- AKA, "pepper." But my advice still stands. Use -m 1410 and supply the hash in "hash:salt" format. Or in this case, "has...

Yes, it's possible. I just told you how. Use -m 6100, and manually append the salt with each attack. Treat the salt as part of the password candidate you're attacking. For example if the salt is '1...

Well, the specific part that was wrong was "GPU always performs better than CPU, even on slow hashes". Slow hashes are especially faster on GPU than CPU (until you start involving memory, that is) bec...
