Thread: speed and length
Post: RE: speed and length
The rate is likely falling because the GPU is throttling itself. The 295X has a very low Powertune target temperature -- it has a hard-coded maximum value of only 75C (compared to the 290X, which has ... |

Powertune doesn't just throttle for heat, it also throttles for power consumption (hence its name.) You are aggressively overclocking, so you are surely exceeding the amount of power the card is willi... |

I most certainly am not envious of you. Nor am I envious of your inability to read these forums where we have repeatedly advised users not to buy the 295X. It might be good a good card for pushing pix... |

No, it absolutely is not the best card to buy for oclHashcat. You are sorely mistaken. 2x 290X are cheaper, faster, and behave much more civilly. GTX 980 however is the all-around best card to buy.

NBZ hasn't been around for ~ 6 months. But IIRC what he ended up doing was upgrading the radiator and adding two larger fans to the GPU. Then he had to set the clock to 1000 Mhz and Powertune to 0% or... |

Again, it's not just about temperature. It's also about how much power the card is drawing. That's why it's called Powertune. The firmware on the GPU will not allow the card to draw more watts than it... |

nvidia gpus are slow, mobile gpus are slow, nvidia mobile gpus are the slowest.
that said, the attack you are running is not well-suited for gpus, so you're not getting full acceleration. straight ... |

gpus work on massively parallel problems, so you can only achieve full acceleration on gpu if you give the gpu enough work to do. a straight dictionary attack does not give the gpu enough work. in ord... |

you won't be able to use a pipe with -a 3 or -a 6. so you'll need to create a dictionary with combinator first, then use -a 6 combined_dict.txt ?d?d?d |

Post: RE: Can hybrid attack work with rules?
I don't think that attack does what you think it does. Your plaintext input is "rafa3rafa3". If cain.txt contains the word "rafa", then "-a 6 cain.txt ?d -j d" will generate the candidate "rafarafa3" ... |

If you're looking to build a powerful hash password cracking server then you're definitely on the wrong track with the Quadro cards.
First, those cards are Keppler, and Keppler sucks for password ... |

replace "quiet splash" with "single". this will drop you to a root shell in single user mode. you can use this to install sshd, or you can just do everything from the local console. your pick. |
