Thread: oclHashcat benchmark with Apple CPU + GPU
Post: RE: oclHashcat benchmark with Apple CPU + GPU

For the price of that expansion chassis, you could build a complete 4-GPU server. And using that expander means your laptop is no longer mobile, you're tied to your desk. And you have to have all thos...

Not sure why you'd invest this much in an Apple platform when we know how buggy OpenCL is on OS X, but okay.

He actually is running "2.10," there is no 2.01 release that runs on OSX. The version from git reports 2.01 followed by the git commit hash, which is the number that really matters. He's using version...

right. you're using shared resources, and most vps providers make heavy use of oversubscription so that they can put a large number of virtual machines on a single host. you're probably only getting 1...

i just read back through where you stated you have "24 Intel Xeon X5650." what this probably means is that the /virtual host/ has 2x X5620, for a total of 12 physical cores and 12 logical cores via hy...

you can get the processor info from inside the vm, but that doesn't mean you're actually getting all of that. you can assign four vprocs to a vm, doesn't mean you'll actually get full use of four core...

Command is fine. Problem is cuLaunchKernel() returned 701, which is CUDA_ERROR_LAUNCH_OUT_OF_RESOURCES. You might be able to get it to run with a lower -n value.

Post: RE: need help with sha512

yes, i mean hardware. the problem is sha512 requires much more vram than the other hash types, hence the out of resources error.

sha512 hashes in linux shadow file is actually sha512crypt, not raw sha512.

Please understand sha512crypt, aka SHA512(Unix), is *not* simply salted sha512. The "hex string" generated by Cain's Hash Calculator is just a raw sha512 hash, and is completely different -- and in no...
