Your 600k SHA1 are unsalted, whereas NetNTLMv1 is salted. You will incur a 1000x slowdown with 1000 salts. |

Thread: Bruteforce Keyspace Mythology
Post: RE: Bruteforce Keyspace Mythology
You don't really need to understand how hashcat calculates the base/mod loop sizes to use --keyspace. But if you want to understand, study https://github.com/hashcat/hashcat-utils/blob/master/src/keys... |

Thread: Question re attacking one (1) hash....!
Post: RE: Question re attacking one (1) hash....!
If I understand correctly, you want to brute force both the key AND part of the message?
To approach this with hashcat you will need to generate 10000 possible messages, one for each possible value... |

Post: RE: Ubuntu Catalyst Hashcat Guide Notes
Yeah, the AMD article on the wiki is 2 years out of date, as most of us abandoned AMD for Nvidia. There's no real motivation to update it, either.
A rather unfortunate time to buy 6950's as well, ... |

Thread: Low GPU load for dictionary attack
Post: RE: Low GPU load for dictionary attack
You're not giving the GPU enough work to do. It is impossible to gain any acceleration with straight dictionary attacks against fast hashes unless you supply an amplifier.

First, for mode 1420 your hash needs to be formatted as hash:salt
Second, your syntax is entirely wrong. Read the wiki article on mask attacks. |

You still need to run an X server even on headless machines in order to apply the timeout patch and set the appropriate perf level.
