well, moore's law is projected to taper off this year, and gpus seem to have tracked moore's law better than cpus. |

if your focus is on hash cracking then avoid nvidia.
check out https://www.gat3way.eu/est.php and look at the MH/s columns for each GPU. this will give you a good idea of what to buy.

7970 is a budget GPU -- you just have to budget a little more for it. And considering its MSRP was half of what the 6990 was, it's quite a bargain.

hashcat's interface already suits advanced users well. since hashcat is intended for advanced users -- or geeks, as you called them -- there is no problem here. |
