Thread: Pipe is -very- slow
Post: RE: Pipe is -very- slow
It's a potential workaround, not a magic fix. Pipe incurs more host-device transfers and is more sensitive to PCI-e bus speed & latency.
You should be using cpu hashcat for this attack. |

Thread: Pipe is -very- slow
Post: RE: Pipe is -very- slow
It depends on the hardware and the workload. There's no "one size fits all" answer, you just have to know your tools. In this case, it looks like Mem5 has a really underpowered CPU if he's only pullin... |

not sure about why it's reporting -1%, but all the other issues (autotuned to 1, low utilization) indicate you are not giving it enough work to do. |

Thread: 4x SLI GTX 1060 Hashcat Rig
Post: RE: 4x SLI GTX 1060 Hashcat Rig
I have different advice.
1. No such thing as an "overkill CPU" now that Hashcat can use both CPU & GPU cooperatively, and modern CPUs with AVX2 are actually fast enough to make a noticeable differe... |

RAM is pretty cheap, better to have "too much" than not enough. RAM also helps with tasks like wordlist manipulation (e.g., ''sort -u -S 32000M''), or using hashcat features like --show and --left aga... |

Generally you need to have access to the password database to obtain hashes. This generally involves compromising a system at some level. The exception to this is e.g. network protocols (WPA, NetNTLM,... |
