Buy something newer and buy an nvidia card. If you're on a budget a used 750TI or 960 might be ok.

I don't think AMD 7xxx cards still have opencl support, hence won't work with hashcat. Besides. AMD cards quickly overheat/heat throttle and need much more power.

750TI is definitely the slowest of the three. Not sure about 960 vs 1050.

use different wordlists, use rules, try to learn something about the password.

in the case you describe a mask attack would be much more appropriate than a wordlist attack. https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=mask_attack Do you remember if the later characters are upper or l...

then run a mask attack with -1 ?l?d PLO?1?1?1?1?1

why do you expect your cpu speed to equal the gpu speed?

convert the smaller of the two lists into a rules file and don't use mode 7 but mode 0

if you are indeed attacking unsalted md5 there is no reason to have a targeted attack per hash.

you didn't use -O in that example

your mask is not ideal. Try ?b?b?b?b?b?b?b?b as suggested by philsmd

I'd go for a AMD A8-9600 or similarly cheap AMD quad core CPU.

It doesn't make any difference for hashcat but in a home server more cores at the same price can't hurt.

the ETH wallet is using scrypt which is specifically designed to be very slow on gpus. Your cpu might be faster.

Post: RE: m 3800 with different starting and ending salt...

mode 3800 only supports a single salt. You need to use mode 20 and create your attack in such a way that the email (second salt) is always appended to the actual candidate.

I believe there has never been an optimized kernel for 2500. So the only problem seems to be hashcat trying to load it anyway. What exactly is your command line?
