Thread: Sorry but: TrueCrypt USB-Drive
Post: RE: Sorry but: TrueCrypt USB-Drive
Not sure why you tried skip=1993276928. According to the FAQ you need the first 512 bytes of /dev/sdc1.
Is your password 0123456789 or 123456789? Are you using a hidden volume? |

oh, I think I misread that for "first". Are you sure you are using the correct hash mode? I don't know what Truecrypt's default settings are. |

Thread: Sort -u problem
Post: RE: Sort -u problem
you forgot the leading slash. it should be "/media/" not "media/". "media/" would point to some directory like /your/current/working/path/media/...". Also make sure your external drive is not mounted ... |

you probably did not save the hash file with the correct charset. |

Thread: Spectre/Meltdown patch a prob?
Post: RE: Spectre/Meltdown patch a prob?
For GPU cracking definitely not. For CPU cracking, very likely not. You mostly lose performance when doing IO, which hashcat avoids as much as possible. |

You are confusing PMK and PMKID. The hash mode for the PMKID attack is 16800. |

It's used to attack a WPA handshake using pre-calculated PMK for a specific SSID. |

Thread: Speed issue with WPA2
Post: RE: Speed issue with WPA2
1. do your masks have a static prefix? are you using rules with the wordlist?
2. 2501 WPA PMK, not WPA PSK. If you don't know what PMK means you don't need it.
3. estimated time is only for the mask... |

Thread: Speed of crack for WPA/WPA2 hash

The wiki article you mention is about maskprocessor, not hashcat. If you use mp the candidates are generated on cpu.
Using hashcat's a3 mode is always better than using mp if you don't need any spe... |

Yes, if you pipe anything into hashcat (mp/pp/…) it's using your cpu.
In general mask attack will be the fastest mode but with sufficient rules the speed of a wordlist attack should be pretty clo... |
