| doesn't look untypical for me. it's the opposite, it looks more like a typical custom algorithm used in a php app or so. in this case its simply md5(salt1.md5(pass).salt2)? |

| Btw using -a 1 is the same as the combinator mode, this way you may save some wordlist space plus you have a nice multiplicator option for fast hashes |

| Because you lose the amplifier. That's very technical and goes back how oclhashcat partially reverses the MD5. The best workaround is to use it as a salted hash:
