Sounds like your hashes are not SHA1 or you have a bad export, maybe with salts missing.

For descrypt, FPGA is defenitely an alternative as they are really good in cracking DES, which is what descrypt bases on. Not sure if there's a cracker out there.

Please do not use network-shares for your hashfile or do not use --remove. The potfile is the better alternative.

Native pwdump format is supported. You just need to set the -m mode so that oclHashcat knows which type of hashes you want to crack.
