Yes, that is very slow. If you use wordlists instead of brute-force you need to add an amplifier to get full speed on GPU.

Office 2013 Hash *is* that slow. Your CPU issue doesn't have an influence on it.

Since the ESSID is required to be a 0 byte terminated C string, it should be possible to enter any valid ESSID at parameter 3. All you need to do is to setup your terminal correctly.
