Thread: Performance related to password length
Post: RE: Performance related to password length

Hard to estimate. Best way to find out is to modify the kernels directly. But gutfeeling tells me it's not much because of some other optimizations that went into the code since then.

It's an OpenCL runtime installation problem. Probably you had AMD or Intel OpenCL runtime added before. Read this and follow it 100%: https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=frequently_asked_questions#i_...

Thread: How to Allocate More Memory?
Post: RE: How to Allocate More Memory?

The OpenCL runtime limits hashcat to use only 1/4 of the total memory, but for memory intense algorithms like scrypt it allocates four blocks to workaround that problem. For other algorithms it doesn'...

You can also use hashcats tools/test.pl in passthrough mode to generate them

I think you're looking for a rule not a mask. With a rule it's possible, see rules/T0XlC-insert_space_and_special_0_F.rule as an example.

Post: RE: Office collision: 7 or more characters?

Well, MD5 is 128 bit while RC4 (in this case) is only 40 bit. The mode #2 is not made to find collisions, it's more to find the correct password used. Having the correct password gives you the chance ...

No, you can't reuse this unless the salt length is exactly the same. Otherwise it requires a special kernel module.

Maybe the large keyspace. Try something more normal like ?l?l?l?l?l?l?l?l and report if it still occurs

In that case it's an OpenCL runtime error, you can't do anything here. Maybe update to a more modern CPU, yours is almost 5 year old.
