If test is a directory, then the error message is correct, since you are using -a 6 mode not -a 0 mode which does not support scanning of directories and instead tries to load a file.

As for the images, you just need the first 512 byte from block device (or harddisk image). See https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=example_hashes You need -m 6241.

There are no special rules for WPA required since oclHashcat automatically rejects candidates (after applying the rules) if they less than length 8.
