| its pretty easy. in sl3 you have a fixed keyspace of 1000000000000000 combinations (10 ^ 15).
if you want to start at 22 %, do --pw-skip 220000000000000
if you want to stop at 23 %, do --pw-limit 23... |

| hashcat is not optimized for brute force, but oclHashcat-lite is. that is because even with 64 high speed cpus you can not beat home computer with single hd6990 gpu. |

| could be a software problem too. oclHashcat-lite uses the ADL library from AMD to fetch GPU temp and utilization. Maybe you have to upgrade your setup. i am using ubuntu 11.10 with catalyst 11.12. |

| usually, after upgrading catalyst, it enough to run:
aticonfig --initial -f --adapter=all
this writes a new xorg.conf. so you have to either restart GDM or reboot your system to activate this. then ... |

| i doubt you can do it a few minutes with gpu since special techniques heavily depending on memory access. memory access on GPU = big slowdown. |
