Post: RE: HD7950, HD5870, or HD5970

personally I would not buy the hdXX50 versions. If you really want it as cheap as possible, the hd5870 is not bad.

Post: RE: A few questions about cracking

It's mostly a personal setting. Set it as high as you want. The higher the faster the cracking but the slower the desktop.

Post: RE: Best for DES?

des is limited to a max length 8. you can do a full keyspace search up to 6 maybe. and then use full keyspace search for 7 and 8 but reduce -t

Post: RE: oclHashcat-lite output | to program

you can also use maskprocessor. it's a standalone program to generate wordlists. it produces the same candidates as oclHashcat-lite does. it can print to stdout, so you can pipe it to whatever program...

Post: RE: Can I use v0.14 for DES's key?

Raw DES is not supported. If you want it added, please create a ticket on TRAC and add some examples. Why v0.14?

Why do you think it's not doing an permutation attack? You can try very by using the --stdout switch on commandline. To get it work, remove the hashfile. There's also a range that a word from y...

The speed is OK, more or less. 36922 * 1096 = 40466 KH/s You should be able to get around 60, try -n 160 -u 1024

I don't like that idea. - There could be 3rd party developers that would start writing support for kernels but only for selling them. This could create a situation that people start thinking the "i...
