The problem with hd7970 is that you need the "8.921.2 RC11" version (based on catalyst 11.12) while all other cards need catalyst 12.1. Means you can not have both types in the same system as long AMD...

you said something about 8 byte salts but each line of your salt.txt has 16 byte. please also not that hashcat is not able to do hex-salts - only oclHashcat-* can do that.

yeah, split the hash file. in theory you can split by 1 since it will not make any speed difference in sum. multihash support for salted hashes has just been added because of the lazyness of some user...
